A significant increase in heating costs for the population has been announced in Kyiv.

The Kyiv municipal enterprise “Kyivteploenergo” has declared its intention to raise heating tariffs for residents of the capital by 50%. These changes could take effect at the beginning of the next heating season, which is scheduled to start on October 1, pending approval by state regulators.

Reasons for the Tariff Increase

According to representatives of “Kyivteploenergo”, the main factors that necessitated the increase in tariffs include the rising costs of energy resources, inflationary processes, and increased expenses for the repair and modernization of the city’s thermal infrastructure. These factors have significantly impacted the cost of heat production.

“Heating tariffs in Kyiv have not been reviewed since 2021. During this time, the economically justified cost of thermal energy has significantly increased compared to the current tariffs.”

Prospects for Consumers

The increase in tariffs will only be possible after approval by the relevant state authorities. As of May 2025, heating tariffs for residents of the capital have remained unchanged for over three years. If the changes are approved, the new rates will take effect in October, which could significantly impact the expenses of Kyiv residents for utility services during the cold season.
