The Kyiv police have initiated an investigation into the developer who destroyed trees along the banks of the Rusanivska Canal. The maximum penalty for the offense is up to three years of imprisonment.

Law enforcement in the capital has opened a criminal case due to illegal construction in the coastal zone near the Rusanivska Canal. It has been established that one of the construction companies, which is building a residential complex in this area, exceeded the designated construction site and conducted tree felling on a protected area. Additionally, the developer removed the topsoil and filled the area with sand.

Criminal Charges and Possible Consequences
Investigators have classified the company’s actions under Part 4 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unauthorized occupation of land and unauthorized construction, as well as under Part 1 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code – illegal felling, transportation, storage, or sale of timber.

“Preliminary findings indicate that one of the capital’s construction companies, which is building a residential complex near the protective coastal strip of the Dnipro River, illegally exceeded the construction site boundaries and conducted tree felling on a protected green area, removed the soil layer, and filled it with sand,” the Kyiv police communication department reported.
The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing. The police are establishing all circumstances and individuals involved in the illegal construction. The company faces up to three years of imprisonment for its actions.
