In the capital, public figures are urging the authorities to consider the issue of returning the historical building in Podil to the state, where Vikentiy Khvoyka – a prominent Ukrainian archaeologist and the discoverer of the Trypillia culture – once lived.

The House on Ihorivska: History and Current Condition

The two-story house located at 9 Ihorivska Street was home to Vikentiy Khvoyka for 16 years, who is referred to as the godfather of Ukrainian archaeology. Today, this building is owned by the sanctioned oligarch Novynskyi. According to activists, the building stands empty, gradually deteriorating and falling into ruin.

Public Initiative and Plans for the Museum

The director of the “Ancient Kyiv” reserve and head of the “Ukraine Incognito” organization, Roman Malenkov, has called for support of the public initiative to return the house to state ownership and to create a museum based on it.

“We are launching a public initiative: Khvoyka’s House. Let’s create a museum,” wrote Malenkov.

The organizers have already created a group in the Telegram messenger called “Khvoyka’s House. Let’s create a museum,” inviting everyone interested to join the initiative and contribute to the preservation of the capital’s cultural heritage.
