Every day, thousands of Kyiv residents are forced to spend hours stuck in traffic due to the ongoing repairs of the Northern Bridge. Citizens are demanding that the city authorities implement effective and urgent measures to expedite the restoration work.
Petition for Round-the-Clock Repairs
An electronic petition has appeared on the official website of the Kyiv City Council, in which residents are asking for the repair work on the Northern Bridge to be organized around the clock. The authors of the initiative note that currently, repairs are only conducted on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00 by a small team of 4–6 workers, and work completely halts at night and on weekends. This, according to the signatories, leads to significant traffic jams, in which thousands of vehicles and passengers find themselves every day.

Suggestions from Kyiv Residents to Improve the Situation
To shorten the repair time, residents propose organizing work in 2–3 shifts, ensuring a continuous process throughout the day. They cite the successful experience of repairing the Northern Bridge in the summer of 2023, when, thanks to a round-the-clock schedule, the project was completed from June 1 to September 1.
Among additional measures is the introduction of reversible traffic during peak loads, which would help reduce congestion and provide more convenient movement for over 150,000 residents daily.
According to the petition authors’ calculations, implementing the proposed steps would allow for the completion of the major repairs on the bridge 30–40% faster and restore normal traffic at one of the capital’s key transport hubs.
