Sekhmet and Osiris Settle into Their New Home at Kyiv Zoo

Two servals, evacuated from the frontline town of Kurakhove in Donetsk region, have received new accommodations at Kyiv Zoo. The animals are continuing their rehabilitation, adapting to the comfortable living conditions in the capital.
New Conditions for Rehabilitation and Care
After a course of treatment and stabilization, the servals Osiris and Sekhmet were moved to a new space specially designed to meet the needs of these exotic cats. The enclosure features a three-level wooden house, hammocks, tree branches, scratching posts, various types of substrates, and wooden logs for climbing. To ensure a balanced diet, the servals have been provided with a diet that includes meat — their favorite food.
“After stabilization, treatment, and adaptation, the first pair — Osiris and Sekhmet — have moved on to the next stage of rehabilitation. For this, the zoo staff personally created a spacious home for them, taking into account all the species’ characteristics and the individual needs of the animals. The servals are currently getting used to their new home, and our specialists care for their comfort daily: a three-level wooden house, hammocks, tree branches, scratching posts, various types of substrates, wooden logs for climbing, as well as a balanced diet with their favorite meat,” the zoo reported.
Visitors Can See the Servals in the Zoo’s Fruit Garden
In 2023, four servals were transferred to Kyiv Zoo after being evacuated from a dangerous area in the east of the country. Today, zoo specialists emphasize that the rehabilitation process for such animals is lengthy and consists of several stages. Visitors to Kyiv Zoo can already observe the lives of Sekhmet and Osiris in the fruit garden, where conditions have been created to be as natural as possible.
