A large fire broke out in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv near Lisove Cemetery, quickly spreading due to gusts of wind. This was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of the city. The incident occurred on May 1 at 11:31 in the territory of the forest park management located on Kraiina Street.

Deployment of Rescue Services and Scale of the Fire
According to firefighters, it was determined on site that dry grass was burning over an area of about 2 hectares. Due to strong gusts of wind, with speeds reaching 15-20 m/s, the fire spread rapidly. An additional fire truck and a team of forestry workers were called in to combat the blaze. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames by 13:55, with a total area of burned forest amounting to 2.5 hectares.

“We emphasize the importance of following fire safety rules in natural ecosystems and remind that currently in Kyiv, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s are observed, and a Level I danger has been declared! Such weather conditions create prerequisites for the rapid spread of fire over large areas in case of fires in open territories”
