Nazarii Husakov Left Ukraine Amid Fundraising Investigation

Prominent public figure Nazarii Husakov has left the territory of Ukraine following allegations of misusing donations collected for him. This became known after the report by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, which was presented by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Investigations into the Use of Charitable Funds

The President reported that the relevant Ministry of Internal Affairs report addressed not only the work of the National Guard at the front and the use of drones but also the fight against criminal groups associated with the Russian mafia. Special attention was drawn to the scandal surrounding the fundraising for Nazarii Husakov and the possible instances of fraud. Investigations into all available information from open sources are currently ongoing.

“Thirdly: a separate report regarding the scandalous and extremely unpleasant situation surrounding the fundraising for Ukrainian citizen Nazarii Husakov and possible instances of fraud. Investigations into all publicly available information are ongoing,” the head of state stated.

According to Zelensky, at least four financial institutions and numerous digital services were involved in the fundraising efforts. The circle of citizens who may have been affected by possible illegal actions is being established.

Establishing Location and Circumstances

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Nazarii Husakov left for abroad on June 13. The whereabouts of the public figure and other important details are currently being clarified. The President emphasized the need to restore justice and prevent the discrediting of volunteer fundraising and charity in general. He stressed the importance of a lawful response to any attempts at fraud in this area.

Recently, media reports surfaced regarding possible abuses by Husakov of the funds he collected for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy – he publicly spoke about the illness and organized donation drives. Following the emergence of accusations regarding the lack of transparency in expenditures, Husakov stated that he “never mixed his funds” with the donations received for purchasing medication. In turn, Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi reported that since June of last year, Husakov has been receiving the medication “Evrisyde” funded by the city budget.
