A unique mosaic panel created in the style of the famous artist Maria Prymachenko is under threat of destruction in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv.
This is reported by Kyiv24
The mosaic is located on the facade of kindergarten No. 809 at 5B Anna Akhmatova Street. The work on the panel was carried out by the honored artist of Ukraine Ivan Pylypenko. Local residents and cultural heritage preservation experts are concerned that during the facade insulation construction work, the mosaic may be destroyed or hidden under a layer of modern materials.
Public Appeal to Authorities
Architectural researcher Elmira Ettinger emphasizes the need to protect this artistic heritage. She points out that similar cases have occurred in Kyiv, where historical mosaics disappeared under insulation or were damaged by contractors during repairs.
“Mosaic panels in the style of Maria Prymachenko, authored by the honored artist of Ukraine Ivan Pylypenko, are being destroyed. This is kindergarten No. 809 at 5B Anna Akhmatova Street in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv,” Ettinger wrote.
Advancing Cultural Heritage Preservation
According to the cultural expert, part of the mosaic has already been damaged during the dismantling of the porch, which was decorated with mosaics. Ettinger urges representatives of the Darnytsia district administration to intervene and protect the artistic heritage from destruction. The public demands that the remnants of the panel not be covered with insulation and that ways to preserve them be found, as this work holds artistic and historical value for the city.
The issue of protecting the mosaic has gained attention among Kyiv residents, who hope that the authorities will take measures to preserve this unique cultural monument.
