Russian Representative Reports on Conveying Putin’s Position to the U.S. During Visit

Представник РФ заявив, що «доніс позицію Путіна» до США

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of the president of Russia, spoke about the Russian delegation’s stay in the United States amid significant strengthening of American sanctions against Russia and U.S. President Donald Trump’s refusal to meet with Vladimir Putin without prior peace agreements regarding Ukraine.

Negotiations Amid Sanctions and Diplomatic Tension

Dmitriev noted that the Russian delegation has been in the U.S. for three days, attempting to convey “Putin’s position on the futility of pressure on Russia.” According to him, certain forces are making “titanic efforts to disrupt dialogue” between the two countries, although he did not specify who is behind these actions. At the same time, U.S. administration representatives were informed about Putin’s meeting with the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, during which, according to Dmitriev, successful tests of the “Burevestnik” cruise missile and the situation regarding Ukrainian troops near Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region were discussed.

“We see titanic efforts to disrupt dialogue between Russia and the U.S.,” Dmitriev stated.

Contacts with American Politicians and Moscow’s Official Position

Dmitriev added that he conveyed Moscow’s official position to U.S. officials, according to which “the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine is only possible by eradicating its root causes” – which in Russia is understood as NATO’s expansion and Ukraine’s aspiration to become a member of the Alliance. Dmitriev also reported that he conveyed information about the “stable state of the Russian economy” to the U.S.

During his trip to the U.S., Dmitriev met with Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who has repeatedly expressed views on the conflict in Ukraine that align closely with the narratives of official Moscow. The Russian embassy in Washington recently provided Luna with documents from Soviet archives related to the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

Dmitriev also announced a forthcoming meeting between American congressmen and representatives of the State Duma of Russia. However, information regarding his other meetings in the U.S., particularly with U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff, has not been confirmed. The White House has not yet commented on these negotiations.
