Discussion on Support for Ukraine and Religious Issues

During the conversation, participants focused on matters of faith, contemporary challenges, and discussed the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. Special attention was given to the topic of the war that the Russian Federation has waged against the Ukrainian people and the violations of international law.

“We talked about faith, the challenges of our time, about Ukraine, and the senseless war that the Russian Federation has unleashed against our people and international law.”

Bishop Vitaliy Kryvytskyi of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, who was one of the participants in the meeting, presented the U.S. Secretary of State with a box of candies made in Dnipro. According to him, these sweets are “born” even during enemy shelling and have become a symbol of the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people.

Annual Ukrainian Week in Washington

Marco Rubio assured that he prays for Ukraine every day and is making efforts to establish a just peace for Ukrainians. In response, Vitaliy Kryvytskyi promised prayer support for the American official and urged all believers to join in a collective prayer for peace.

The Ukrainian Week in Washington is organized annually by the American-Ukrainian Christian Alliance—a community of evangelical Christians from various denominations. According to the organizers, the members of the alliance are united by their love for Christ and their desire to serve both Ukraine and the United States. The main objectives of the alliance are to develop a strategic partnership between the two countries and to protect Ukraine’s interests on the international stage.
