Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga expressed his position regarding the incident involving Russian drones entering Polish airspace during a large-scale attack on Ukraine that occurred on the morning of September 10. According to Sybiga, such incidents demonstrate the growing sense of impunity among the Kremlin leadership and the increasing aggression of Russia due to the lack of an adequate response from the international community.

“The Russian drones that entered Poland during the massive attack on Ukraine indicate that Putin’s sense of impunity continues to grow, as he has not been properly punished for his previous crimes,” he stated.
A Threat to All of Europe
In the minister’s opinion, the Russian president is trying to test the resolve of the West: the longer an adequate response is delayed, the more aggressive Moscow’s actions become. Sybiga warned that a weak response only provokes Russia to launch new attacks, and then Russian missiles and drones could spread even further into Europe.
The Need for Enhanced Defense
The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of making a decision that would allow for the involvement of air defense resources from neighboring states to intercept hostile drones and missiles in Ukrainian airspace, particularly those approaching NATO borders. Sybiga stressed that Ukraine has long advocated for such a step for the sake of collective security and additionally called on partners for urgent reinforcement of Ukraine’s air defense and protection against the increasing number of attacks from the Russian Federation.
Moreover, the minister highlighted the necessity of strengthening sanctions pressure. He is convinced that only significant transatlantic pressure can compel Putin to take peace negotiations seriously.
On the morning of September 10, the Operational Command of Poland reported an “unprecedented violation of Polish airspace by drones.” According to Polish military sources, some of the drones were shot down, and all necessary procedures were employed to protect the airspace.
Meanwhile, American Republican Senator Joe Wilson emphasized that Russia is attacking a NATO ally, while the Russian authorities have not yet commented on these events.
