The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has arrested a 17-year-old resident of Kyiv who, according to preliminary data, was an agent of the Russian FSB and was preparing a bombing attack at the capital’s military recruitment and accounting center (TCK). Details of the Arrest and the Crime
«According to the case materials, the enemy accomplice turned out to be a minor who already had a suspicion from law enforcement for setting fire to military vehicles, but the court released him from custody under house arrest. Taking advantage of this, the young man contacted his FSB curator again via messenger and informed him of his readiness to carry out tasks,» the statement said.
The curator provided the young man with the coordinates of a cache containing a homemade explosive device made from plastic explosives. According to the information received, the young man was supposed to plant the explosives under the walls of the military building, after which the Russian special services planned to remotely detonate it, destroying the target along with the executor.
SBU officers arrested the suspect “in the act” as he retrieved the explosive device from the cache and headed towards the planned target. He has currently been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 28, and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — preparation for a terrorist act by a group of persons in conspiracy. The sanctions of these articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Additionally, the question of further qualification of his actions under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code — treason committed in a state of war — is being considered.
Currently, the perpetrator is in custody and awaiting further investigation.
