The US and NATO European Countries Develop a New Weapon Supply System for Ukraine

CША і європейські члени НАТО розробляють механізм постачання зброї Україні – Reuters

The United States, along with European NATO members, is working on creating an updated mechanism for delivering military assistance to Ukraine, which will be funded by the member countries of the European part of the Alliance.

Priority Lists and New Financial Approaches

According to the information released, the Ukrainian side will compile a list of the most critical types of weapons. These so-called Priority Lists of Ukraine’s Needs (PURL) will include aid packages estimated at around 500 million dollars each.

If any European country decides to allocate certain items from the list to Ukraine, it will have the opportunity to quickly purchase corresponding replacements for itself from the United States. This procedure will allow bypassing the bureaucratic delays typical of military supply approvals, but it requires advance payment from European partners.

Expected Volume of Assistance and Reactions

Additionally, European countries will have the option to order the necessary weapons either directly from the United States or through NATO structures. Allies expect that by implementing this mechanism, Ukraine will be able to receive military support totaling around 10 billion dollars.

The North Atlantic Alliance declined to comment on the information from agency sources, and the White House, Pentagon, and the Ukrainian embassy in the US have not yet responded to Reuters’ request.
