Which Works of Art Will Be Transferred to the Museum
The collection being transferred to state ownership includes paintings, icons, and other valuable works of art. These items were recognized as cultural valuables based on an expert assessment conducted in 2024 by museum specialists. Among the creators are prominent representatives of the Transcarpathian school of art, such as Yosyp Bokshai, Havylo Hlyuk, and Adalbert Erdeli.
“These include paintings, icons, and other works recognized as cultural valuables based on the results of the expert assessment conducted in 2024 by museum specialists. Among the authors are the classics of the Transcarpathian school: Yosyp Bokshai, Havylo Hlyuk, Adalbert Erdeli,” the Agency noted.
Legislative Changes and Details of the Transfer
The transfer of the collection became possible due to the update of the Law of Ukraine “On ARMA,” which came into effect on July 30, 2025. According to the new rules, the National Agency for the Detection and Management of Assets can now transfer assets that are cultural heritage to state museums, libraries, reserves, and archives without conducting a competitive procedure – solely based on a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
It is known that by the decision of the Pechersk District Court, 285 paintings belonging to Medvedchuk were arrested. The agency initiated an expert review of these works to determine their artistic and historical significance. As a result, 149 art objects were recognized as part of the national heritage and are subject to transfer to museum collections.
