Talks in Busan: Key Outcomes

According to Donald Trump following the dialogue, China agreed to cooperate with the United States to achieve results in resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The talks lasted one hour and 40 minutes, exceeding the initially scheduled time in the American president’s agenda. The parties did not make any immediate statements to the press.

“We talked a long time about Ukraine. We will work together to have some results. We agreed that both sides are at an impasse. And sometimes you have to let them fight, probably. Madness. But he will help us and we will work together on Ukraine,” Trump said aboard Air Force One, en route to Washington.

Economic Cooperation Between the U.S. and China

In addition to the issue of Ukraine, the meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump also discussed economic relations between the two countries. The U.S. president announced that the United States plans to reduce one of the tariffs on Chinese goods and is also considering the possibility of concluding an annual trade agreement with Beijing in the future.

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that China’s development does not contradict Trump’s strategic goal of “making America great again,” expressing confidence in the possibility of achieving mutual success and prosperity for both countries.

After the talks concluded, Donald Trump headed to Washington, while Xi Jinping continued his participation in the APEC summit.
