The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland has responded to media reports regarding the possible deportation of Ukrainian citizens from the territory of this country, which allegedly occurred in the early days of March. Details of the Checks and Legal Status of Ukrainians

As a result of this operation, administrative proceedings were initiated against 91 Ukrainian citizens regarding their obligation to return. The embassy emphasized that this status does not mean immediate deportation, but is merely the beginning of a legal procedure that may take weeks or even months. Individuals subject to such a decision have the right to appeal it and receive qualified legal assistance.

“It is important to understand: an obligation to return is not immediate deportation. It is the beginning of an administrative procedure that can last for weeks or months.”

Embassy Monitors the Situation

The Ukrainian embassy stressed that it is cooperating with Polish authorities, including the police and border guard, to clarify all circumstances of the events and ensure the rights of Ukrainian citizens are upheld. Diplomats continue to monitor the situation’s development and work on protecting the interests of their compatriots.

Earlier, the Polish police reported that during this same operation, 1,944 individuals were detained, of which 147 were foreigners, including 91 Ukrainian citizens. The main goal of the operation was to identify individuals who are wanted or illegally residing in Poland.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, at the beginning of January 2026, there are about 980,000 Ukrainians in Poland who have temporary protection status.
