Unique mosaic preserved in the Darnytskyi district of the capital

In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, during renovation work at the grocery supermarket located at Hrodenka Street, 1/35, an old mosaic was discovered. The mosaic was found hidden beneath the modern structures of the store.
Historical Value and Owners’ Decision
As noted by architectural researcher Elmira Ettinger, the mosaic had been in place long before the grocery store opened. It has remained in excellent condition despite years of building use and numerous renovations.
“At Hrodenka Street, 1/35 in Kyiv (Darnytskyi district), ‘Fora’ was renovating and found the mosaic under the old structures,” Ettinger wrote.
Preservation of Cultural Heritage
The store owners decided not to dismantle the historical element. On the contrary, the mosaic will remain in its place and will be illuminated so that all visitors can admire this work of art. This approach contributes to the preservation of the city’s cultural heritage and creates a unique atmosphere for the establishment’s guests.
