The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, has confirmed that her brother currently resides outside of Ukraine.

During the National Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv on August 25, a journalist asked Yulia Svyrydenko about the circumstances of her brother’s stay abroad. The head of the government emphasized that her brother left Ukraine not during the full-scale war, but before the start of the Russian invasion. In response to a clarification on whether her brother had returned to Ukraine since then, Svyrydenko noted that “he resides abroad.”

Vitaliy Svyrydenko previously held the position of a deputy in the Chernihiv Regional Council, representing the Servant of the People party. According to MP Maryana Bezuhla, the Prime Minister’s brother left for studies in London and has not returned since. Bezuhla also pointed out that officials cannot be held responsible for the actions of their relatives, but emphasized the importance of obtaining clarifications regarding this situation.
Journalists reported that at the time of Yulia Svyrydenko’s appointment as Prime Minister, her greatest concern was how society would perceive the fact that her brother left Ukraine shortly before the start of the large-scale war, renounced his mandate as a regional council deputy from the Servant of the People party, and resides in London. According to Vitaliy Svyrydenko’s declaration, in August 2022, he purchased an apartment and a plot of land in the United Kingdom.
