Support for Ukraine with French Weapons

According to the document, Ukraine is set to receive modern air defense systems, military aircraft, and missiles. Information released by French and international media suggests that the list of equipment may include multi-role Rafale fighters, as well as additional SAMP/T air defense systems, which have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield.

During his visit, Volodymyr Zelensky had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the Rafale fighters, their armaments, the new generation SAMP/T air defense system, and several models of unmanned systems. Following this, discussions between the presidents took place, and a letter of intent regarding further cooperation in air defense was signed. The details of the agreement remain undisclosed at this time.

Significance of the Agreement for Ukraine’s Defense Capability

The agreement aims to leverage French expertise in armaments to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and provide Kyiv with the opportunity to acquire modern systems necessary for effectively countering Russian aggression.

“According to the visit schedule, this will be on Monday. A good substance of the visit. This is what truly helps Ukraine defend itself and achieve our goals, our tasks,” he said.

It is worth noting that this is already Volodymyr Zelensky’s ninth visit to France since the onset of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine in February 2022. Strengthening defense cooperation with France is seen as a key step in enhancing the security and defense capability of the Ukrainian state.
