Details on New Negotiations and Security Guarantees

During a conversation with journalists, Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of setting clear dates for the future trilateral meeting. According to him, despite the previous understanding that the situation in the Middle East is delaying the negotiation process, the Ukrainian side demands greater transparency and specificity in planning diplomatic contacts. Zelensky noted that this is not the first time the meeting date has been postponed due to external political circumstances.

“All issues will be raised: preparation for the trilateral meeting, we want clear dates, although we all roughly understand that the situation in the Middle East affects the postponement of this date, this is not the first time the trilateral meeting has been postponed, we want more specificity,” Zelensky pointed out.

Sanctions and Risks for Ukraine

Separately, the president drew attention to the threats associated with the lifting of some US sanctions on Russian energy. He emphasized that such actions contribute to increasing the financial capabilities of the Russian Federation, which could negatively impact the situation on the front. Zelensky stressed that the issue of sanctions will be one of the key topics during negotiations with the American side, and also noted that bilateral documents concerning the end of the war, security guarantees, and the future reconstruction of Ukraine remain priorities.

It is worth noting that several rounds of trilateral meetings involving representatives of Ukraine, the USA, and the Russian Federation took place in January and February, dedicated to resolving the war. Despite this, no specific results have been reported to the public. Meanwhile, in February, an agreement was reached regarding the exchange of prisoners of war — this was the first such case in the last five months.

The next round of negotiations, which was supposed to take place in early March in Abu Dhabi, was postponed due to heightened tensions in the Middle East. Currently, the date of the next meeting remains uncertain.
