Prosecutor’s Position on the Investigation
“We do not comment on media reports,” said Ines Peterson, spokesperson for the Attorney General.
Ines Peterson noted that the prosecutor’s office typically provides information only about arrests that have already been made. Regarding warrants that remain active, the institution declines to make any public statements.
Case Details and Suspects
Earlier, German media reported the issuance of seven arrest warrants as part of the investigation into the attacks on Nord Stream. Investigators claim to have identified all the operatives involved in the operation, and they are all citizens of Ukraine.
According to journalists, the main coordinator of the explosion was detained in Italy, and Germany is currently seeking his extradition. He has been charged with committing unconstitutional sabotage, organizing an explosion, and destroying facilities, which could result in a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
It is also known that one of the alleged participants was killed on the front lines, while others, according to preliminary reports, are hiding in Ukraine. One of the suspects was attempted to be detained in Poland, but he managed to escape using a vehicle belonging to the Ukrainian military attaché. So far, there has been no official request from Germany to the Ukrainian authorities regarding the extradition of the suspects.
