Despite the official ban on the swimming season in Kyiv, residents continue to relax by the water, leading to tragic consequences.
This is reported by Kyiv24
Since the beginning of 2025, 22 people have died in the capital’s water bodies. During this period, rescuers managed to save six individuals, including one child.
Warnings and Recommendations from Rescuers
“We remind you that the decision of the Kyiv City Defense Council from May 17, 2023, remains in effect — the swimming season is officially not open, and residents are advised against visiting beaches and crowded areas near the water. Despite this, rescuers see people ignoring the ban and risking their lives every day,” stated the State Emergency Service.
Rescuers emphasize the importance of following safety rules while relaxing by the water. They recommend swimming only in designated and equipped areas, not leaving children unattended, avoiding jumping into water in unknown places, not entering the water while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using safety equipment — life jackets, rings, armbands for children, and not swimming alone.
Actions in Case of an Emergency
In the event of an emergency near water bodies, it is recommended to immediately call emergency service numbers 101 or 112. If a victim has lost consciousness and is not breathing on the shore, it is necessary to call for medical assistance at 103.
