Capital residents are initiating changes to enhance road safety
This is reported by Kyiv24
Residents of Kyiv have appealed to the city authorities to slow down traffic on Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard. An electronic petition has been published on the official Kyiv City Council website, proposing the installation of speed bumps before and after pedestrian crossings on this important transportation artery of the city.
Reasons for the Initiative and Public Reaction
According to the petition’s authors, the need for such measures is due to the presence of two large medical facilities and four preschool educational institutions on the boulevard. Residents note that drivers often ignore speed limits and use vehicles with faulty or modified exhaust systems, which increases noise levels.
“The noise from engines creates discomfort.”
Citizens are particularly concerned about the impact of constant noise on military personnel receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities. According to the signatories, the installation of speed bumps will help enhance pedestrian safety, reduce accidents, and provide more comfortable conditions for local residents.
Potential Changes and Improvements to the Situation
The initiators hope that the measures taken will contribute to reducing noise levels and create a safer environment for both local residents and patients of medical facilities, including military personnel. The installation of speed limiters is also expected to prevent dangerous situations on the road, especially near educational and medical institutions.
