Leaders of the European Council and NATO to Participate in the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Meeting in Paris

The President of the European Council, António Costa, and the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, will join the meeting of leaders from the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ taking place in Paris on January 6. This event is organized to coordinate support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Participation of Key European and Global Leaders

According to official information, António Costa will travel to Paris to participate in the meeting focused on supporting Ukraine. Following this, his schedule includes visits to Cyprus and countries in the Middle East. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has also confirmed his participation in the Paris meeting. The event will be chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

High-Level Coordination of Actions

On January 5, negotiations will take place between the chiefs of the general staffs of Ukraine and European countries, including key allies of Kyiv — the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. The following day, leaders of the states within the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ will hold an in-person meeting in Paris to discuss joint steps to support Ukraine.

Importantly, according to NATO, the event will not include communication with media representatives.
