Ukrainian Delegation Informs the U.S. About Russian Attacks

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian delegation regularly informs the American side about the situation in Ukraine, particularly regarding the constant strikes on the energy system. He stressed that the Russian shelling is systematic and part of a deliberate strategy to destabilize the country’s energy sector.

“If the Russians truly wanted to end the war, they would focus on diplomacy rather than missile attacks, blackouts, and attempts to harm even our nuclear power plants. We have data on the facilities that Russia has been scouting for strikes. Everything clearly indicates that diplomacy is certainly not a priority for Russia,” the head of state noted.

Massive Strikes on Energy Infrastructure

The president also highlighted that over the past week, Russian forces have repeatedly attacked Naftogaz facilities in various regions of Ukraine. In particular, the latest strike on gas extraction infrastructure occurred on January 17. Additionally, Russian troops are using various types of weapons — strike drones, missiles, guided bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems — to attack Ukrainian territory.

The Russian leadership publicly denies targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Ukrainian cities and villages, although the actions of the Russian army result in the deaths of civilians and the destruction of hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy facilities, and water supply systems.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these attacks as war crimes of the Russian Federation and emphasize their deliberate nature.
