The List of Candidates for the Shevchenko Prize 2026 Has Been Announced

The Committee of the National Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko has published the list of literary and artistic works that have been admitted to the first stage of the competition for the prize in 2026.

Candidates and Nominations for the Prize

This year, 118 works and projects have been accepted for participation in the competition, presented in 13 nominations. Among them are: prose, poetry, literary studies and art studies, journalism and media, musical art, concert and performance art, theatrical art, cinematography, visual arts, photography, decorative and applied arts, design, as well as creative curation of cultural and artistic projects.

Famous Names Among the Candidates

In the “Prose” nomination, among the participants are the author of “To Fight is Impossible to Retreat” Pavlo Belyansky, “The Last Witch” Nadiya Valchuk (Valchuk-Ostryanitsa), “Mad” Bohdan Viktor Vasylychuk, and others. The list also includes the book by Yuriy Shcherbak “Dead Memory. Voices and Cries”.

In the “Poetry” category, among the candidates is Ukrainian defender, poet, and bard Oleksiy Byk with the collection “#ConsonantVoices”, as well as Kyiv resident, journalist Serhiy Chirkov with the selection of poems “Plot for a Moment” and other authors.

In the “Musical Art” nomination, notable figures are recognized: General Director-Artistic Director of the National Honored Bandurist Capella Yuriy Kurach, composers Oleksandr Tyshchenko, Oleksiy Skrypnyk, and others.

In the “Cinematography” nomination, the names of directors Pavlo Ostrikov (film “You are Cosmos”), Filip Sotnychenko (feature film “La Palisiada”), Taras Tomenko (director, co-author of the script, feature film “House ‘Slovo’. An Endless Novel”) are mentioned.

Among the nominees in the “Journalism and Media” category is scholar, professor Mykola Tymoshyk with the two-volume work “Moscowization of Bukovina”.
