Maliuk to Focus on Conducting Special Operations

The official emphasized that he will continue to work within the SBU structure, where he plans to implement “asymmetric special operations of global scale that will continue to inflict maximum damage on the enemy.”

“There should be more Ukrainian asymmetric operations against the occupier and the Russian state, more of our strong results in destroying the enemy. Vasyl Vasylovych is best at this and will continue to engage in it within the SBU system,” he wrote on Telegram.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had met with Vasyl Maliuk, expressed gratitude for his work, and suggested focusing specifically on combat tasks.

Possible Personnel Changes in the SBU Leadership

Zelensky instructed Maliuk to make the direction of Ukrainian asymmetric operations the strongest in the world. The head of state also held a meeting with the head of the Special Operations Center “A”, Yevhen Khmara. During this meeting, the prospects for the systematic development of the SBU and the preparation of new special operations were discussed.

Earlier, media reports surfaced regarding Maliuk’s possible resignation from his position. He has headed the SBU since February 2023. According to the publication “Ukrainska Pravda”, the duties of the head of the agency may be assigned to Yevhen Khmara.

According to current legislation, the appointment and dismissal of the head of the SBU is carried out by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine upon the proposal of the president.
